Basic Food Safety Training

Food Safety Flyer title
We believe training should be simple, fun and memorable. That way, our trainees remember what they have learnt and can apply the knowledge into their workplace. That's why we have Basic Food Safety Training Programmes, available in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and just recently, Palmerston North, so you can familiarise yourself with the basic food safety knowledge.

Why should you familiarise yourself with the basic food safety knowledge and why is it important? Food safety is about handling, storing and preparing food to prevent virus/bacteria infection. It also helps to ensure that our food keeps sufficient nutrients for us to have a healthy diet. Unsafe food and water mean that it has been exposed to dirt and germs, which can cause infections or diseases such as diarrhoea, meningitis, etc.

These diseases can make people very sick. Sometimes, it can even be life threatening. Some of these infections also make it difficult for our bodies to absorb the nutrients they need to get healthy. Unsafe or stale foods also deteriorate and be of poor quality, which means they lose nutrients and so we do not get enough of what we need for a healthy diet. So unsafe food can also lead to poor nutrition.

That's why every food handlers should understand the basic knowledge of food safety; how to handle food properly and the importance of providing safe food.

This half-day course provides the knowledge to enable food handlers to prepare and serve food to their customers and will safely satisfy local council training requirements.
